Have purchased shiney books at Borders, including a beautiful military atlas which reproduces period maps and actually cites the source. It contains a lot of Seven Years War battle and campaign maps which are simply beautiful. Avoid the Borders (unless you like being stripped of cash), Anakin

Use the second hand book stores. Powell's is reasonably good.
