My choice is based in large measure on the other major candidate's record. That is what a "choice" is, a decision from amongst multiple options -- and sometimes it comes down to how undesirable the other options are.
Because discussing the other guy and/or his record violates your posting conditions, I will respect your wishes and not post substantively.
1. The Laffer curve indicates that we are too heavily taxed, and Romney's tactic of lowering taxes across the board while removing loopholes has been proven in the past to stimulate the economy and result in greater tax revenue while at the same time reducing rent-seeking and wasteful compliance costs.
2. Romney's history in Massachusetts indicates that he will be moderate on social issues and his platform and choice of Ryan for VP indicates his emphasis on budget issues.
3. Ryan is the only one out there with a vaguely reasonable bipartisan plan that cuts any budget whatsoever.
4. The Ryan ticket is the only pro-firearms-rights ticket, which is a litmus test for all other rights.
5. I believe Romney will be better on foreign policy.
I cannot vote in this election as I'm Canadian but I'll give my opinion. Romney scares me, I fear he would drag the states back into the dark ages. He complains about the debt but fails to mention that it was past presidents from his party that created the hole the American economy was in. Obama has been bringing the US back up to where it should be.
Obama belives in Freedom for all, not just the rich white male. I have no idea why Romney fears healthcare. Canada has it and we are a nice healthy democracy. I myself just came out from the hospital from gallbladder surgery, and a return for complications. It cost me nothing aside from time off work. I won't have to worry about getting a loan to pay it off, or miss a mortgage payment. Healthcare isn't evil, but everyone should have the right to have it.
