You get the dog, mom gets the cat.

Also, she lets a feral cat sleep with her in the house? Is that a good idea?

We were against it at first, but she's had the cat fixed, rabies shot, and flea meds. It sleeps on her lap and lets her dry it off with a towel when it's wet outside. It's feral because it was raised by a feral mother cat without any human contact until after it was weaned. (that's the dividing line: human contact before weaning) But my Mother has fed it since it was 9 weeks old and it was the boldest one in the litter. It's rather affectionate with her, but still thinks all other humans are deadly killers.

It's starting to get used to me a bit. It comes in the house now when I am here, as long as I stay in a different room. the first time I visited after my Mom adopted it, it styed outside for a week and wouldn't come inside at all.
