What I don't get is, why do people lease apartments (bachelors at that) for $875/month, for 12 months, when they only need the apartment for, at the most, 9 months? But lets say they only need it for 8 months, they still have to go through the trouble and stress of finding someone to sublet for the other four months, and if they don't find someone ( Read more... )

Paying rent fucking blows. My ma is all "you should live at home until you can buy a place with your brother because at least you're locking your money in and you'll get it back when you move" and ideally it sounds like a really nice way of avoiding dumping money into something you'll never get any long term return on but who wants to live with their brother? More importantly WHO WANTS TO STAY HOME THAT LONG?? I'm too greedy and immature to spend 400-600$ of my money (because I know I'll have to) on a place.

well why would parents pay more for "thatshit" when they could pay less to live on residence?

its not hard to get back into residence on our campus.
