March 13, 1985: Avery Elise Hamilton is born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to Astrid Magnusson and Matthew Hamilton, a singer-songwriter and English teacher respectively. Named after Michael Avery, the physician who delivered her, and Astrid's Swedish mother.

1987: Astrid and Matthew run afoul of the local import of the Russian mafiya; pack everything into a car and flee Vancouver.

1988: The mafiya catches up with them in rural Winnepeg and Matthew and Astrid find the Deck when running with Avery for cover in a nearby barn. They join the Hearts as Twos; Astrid finds work as a musician and nanny, Matthew as a literature tutor.

1989: Matthew challenges a 3♥ to a recital of Howl and is the one who can successfully recite the entire poem. Astrid challenges a 3♥ to a singing contest and wins.

1991:: Astrid successfully challenges to 4♥ with a baking contest.

1993: Matthew challenges to 4♥ with a recital of the St. Crispin's Day Speech from Henry V.

1995: Astrid challenges to 5♥ with a songwriting contest.

March 13, 2000: Avery leaves the Hearts and joins the Diamonds as a Two.

July 2000: Challenges Citra Lam (3♦) to a singing contest and is judged the winner. Citra counters in mahjong, which Avery wins with a score of +64. Catches the eye of Rachel (A♦), who takes her under her wing.

2000: Meets and becomes friends with Wren Nafziger-Pike.

2001: Challenges Alexandra Varnham (4♦) to a chocolate cake bake-off and is judged the winner by the panel of royals.

2002: Avery breaks up with Cristian Santiago Mendez (4♦)and takes a year-long sabbatical from the Deck.

April 2003: Challenges Torvald Righi (5♦) to a jujitsu match. She wins by a close margin and is countered in fencing, which she wins more decisively.

September 2003: Avery challenges Antônia Corcoran (6♦)to archery and wins with a score of 28-19. Antônia does not counter. Avery is put in charge of the Diamond kitchens.

2006: Avery is challenged by Charlotte Berthier for her rank of Six to five-card draw. Avery wins the challenge by bluffing Charlotte into believing she had a flush to beat Charlotte's straight.

2007: Avery challenges Raquel Buckley (7♦) to a bicycle race around the Deck and wins with a time of 00:23:42. Raquel is close behind her with a time of 00:24:02, but does not counter.

2008: Avery challenges Margaret Van Der Aart (8♦) to a fencing match, which she wins by a close margin. Margaret counters in archery, which Avery wins with a score of 26-19. Her on-again, off-again boyfriend Lucas Addison confesses his love to her before shipping off; they leave on bad terms when she can't return his feelings.

2010: Avery challenges Jael Winthrop (9♦) to chess and wins. Jael counters in jujitsu a month later, which Avery wins decisively and violently a week after Lucas returns to the Deck angry and suffering from PTSD.

January 2012: Avery challenges Farraday (10♦) to fencing and wins by a close margin, but is not countered. Farraday leaves the Deck.

February 2012: Lindsey (K♦) dies from complications from chicken pox. Helena (J♦) leaves the Deck to care for a dying aunt. Avery is named Jack of Diamonds in her place.

March 2012: Rachel leaves the Diamond Court to see to problems at the Outposts, leaving the Diamonds in the hands of Säde (A♦) and Avery. Avery turns twenty-seven without fanfare.

April 2012: Rachel returns just long enough to name Ashley Bryant MacCarthaigh King of Diamonds.

May 2012: Silas Taccetta (10♦) challenges Ashley MacCarthaigh (K♦) successfully. Ashley falls to Ten. Rachel returns to Court.

July 2012: Sieben Dietrich (J♠) commits suicide off-Deck, sending Avery a letter. Less than a week later, Avery is involved in an accident that robs her of her short-term memory. She resigns as Jack and falls, like Ashley, to Ten.
