Theme for September- Indian Literature

Sep 12, 2005 20:45

Since we got off to a late start this month, we'll elect the new book of the month by the 15th of September.

September's topic will be Indian Literature. Nominees? Please include a summary or link about the book so we can vote.

The topic of Spanish Literature will be carried over for next month since that was also suggested.

I suck at this because I seriously don't know any Indian writers... except like, Salman Rushdie.

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy was already suggested.

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. Would that count? The author is not Indian but it is worth reading.

I also have a copy of The Bhagavad-Gita translated into English by Barbara Stoler Miller on my shelf.

Here's another one I thought looked interesting:

The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Divakaruni.
