I thought about doing 50bookchallenge this year, but the format felt like too much of a hassle. But then I found the equivalent LibraryThing group, and a forum thread seemed like a much more reasonable way to try to keep track. BUT one of my odder new year's resolutions is to post things places online, instead of just lurking. Because lurking gets to be no fun,

I don't know - I personally love 50bookchallenge. Everyone does it in their own way, which is perfectly fine with me. I get good responses, and a list of recomendations that stretches nearly to a page.

The way I do it is to put my reviews on the community, and put the list on my personal journal. I also bought a small journal that I write them down in, because there's just something immensely satisfying about putting down the books you read in a book, and having to turn pages to see the list of titles you've read. And I have a feeling it will outlast my time on LJ, as well.

Yeah, I get how it's not bad in and of itself. I just haven't been spending enough time on lj to fully participate in the communities I'm already a member of and like, you know? And I definitely do't have the energy to keep track of the same sorts of things in two places at once, and I really like what it's possible to do with a simple forum thread for that sort of thing.

I once tried to keep track of what I read in a journal -- however, I never could write things down in tie after I read things and then I started feeling guilty, so I just abandoned it.
