I personally like the differences in a relationship. I think it keeps things not only interesting, but encourages each person to live their own independent lives and not become homebound/codependent on one another.

I used to sacrifice a lot in relationships, and now I'm not willing to sacrifice much at all. I look at my life as a great ride, and if someone else wants to come along for it, fantastic. But I'm not willing to change my direction for someone else after my previous experiences. Call me selfish, but being selfless has got me burned one too many times.

I think moderately large differences alone along with very good communication are tackleable, if that's a word. The more those differences are, the more you have to make sure you're on the same page just making sure how you feel about everything is clearly understood by all.

But that's just me.
