He knows that question. The start of it is all he needs to hear, even just that first word. But he's stubborn. He's stubborn, and that question is the one that gets so grating. And why is he only asked that by people who already have even a fraction of an idea of what and who and why he really is? How do you think I'm feeling? is the answer he'd rather give. It's too exhausting to try and answer, even if he knows (rather, at least wants to believe) that that person genuinely cares.

So he's stubborn, but at least he keeps the line open.]
