I've basically stopped reading deeply into the news so I can't really make any opinions on most of the shit that's going on in the world right now. But I (obviously) used to read deeply into world news, politics, and theory, and some headlines coming out of the papers in the last week made me revisit an article I wrote on behalf of CCLeft about

It actually just occured to me that this isn't necesarily true of a country like China, which has diverse populations that have, possibly, been molded into what may or may not be a single nation today, but this molding required massive and brutal totalitarian enforcement which, apparently, continues to this day- placing China in a pre-democratic stage perhaps similar to a Sadaam-era Iraq where unrest was quelled by devastating use of the state's military. Perhaps democracy would cause China to become unhinged, sort of like the split that occured between India and Pakastan. I guess the theory may hold up in the Chinese context, in a super-generalized sense. POlitical speculation without research is sweet.

POlitical speculation and theory is so masturbatory I crack myself up. I'm going to go return "The Edukators" (a very cool, fun German movie about revolutionary twenty-somethings that play pranks on rich people by breaking into their homes and rearranging the furniture) and rent something else before it starts pouring.

Also, last night I tried to go see a band called Scum Angel at this warehouse show in downtown oakland but the fucking show sold out. There was apparently another show, some grind bands including one band I dig called "Population Reduction" (one of the greatest band names ever) but that venue (The Chop Shop (!!)) was, supposedly, shut down due to some wierd ordinance violation. So I bought some beers and rented the Edukators. And now I'm putting off going outside to run my errands because it looks really chilly outside. And by chilly I mean 50 degrees. Bring on the hate.
