I was actually wavering on my interpretation of their relationship in the film because I've been consuming so much press/reviews/meta and David and even Andrew had started saying how Mark DIDN'T feel as much for Eduardo and it was making me feel ~bad to the bone~~ ugh ugh BUT SORKIN FIXED EVERYTHING.
