Chuck Bartowski, super spy, or at least partnered to super spies, was busy changing over the RAM in an older laptop from 512 MBs to 2 GIGs -- come on, 512 MBs? what year was it, 1999? -- when a man approached the Nerd Herd station. He was tall, with short, curly black hair and dark skin, and he was wearing a pale pink shirt. Chuck didn't pay any attention to him at first, focused on his mission at hand, until a smooth, accented voice asked:

"Excuse me, can you tell me where I find a Mr John Casey?"

Chuck glanced up. "Uh... maybe?" he said. He threw a quick look around the Buy More; Casey had a tendency to lurk creepily around Chuck's station, and sure enough, Casey was right there in the computer games, watching Chuck from between game boxes. You would think a few dozen missions would make an NSA agent trust a guy, but apparently not so much.

"Casey, you got a customer," Chuck told him.

"Oh, I'm not a customer," said the man. "I am here to bring Mr Casey some very exciting news."

"Exciting news" must have been the code word, because just like that, Casey appeared at Chuck's side. "I'm Casey," he said gruffly.

Suresh smiled pleasantly and shook Casey's hand. "Mr Casey, I am Dr Mohinder Suresh. I work for The Company. I'm a geneticist."

"Oh, gotcha," Casey said, nodding. "The Company. Let's go to my office."

"But you don't have an office," Chuck said, following them.

Casey led Suresh back to the entertainment room. He gave Chuck a sour look when Chuck came with, but he didn't stop Chuck from entering. Immediately, Chuck wished Casey had decided Chuck wasn't privy to this information, because right there in the entertainment room, right in front of the high-def screen that gave Chuck a really inappropriate boner, was Morgan, busy sucking off Anna's face. Chuck had never heard those kinds of slurping noises come from a human being before, and he was pretty sure he could go the rest of his life without ever hearing them again.

"Hey, guys," he called, grimacing. Morgan and Anna broke away from each other, looking startled. And smug, because they were making out in the middle of the day and he wasn't. "Do you mind? I watch movies on this couch!"

"I do mind," Morgan began, and Casey said, "Get out of here. We're trying to make a sale."

"In here?" Morgan asked doubtfully.

Anna grabbed Morgan's hand and hurried away as fast as her four-inch platforms could carry her. Chuck was pretty sure she was afraid of Casey; Anna was smart like that.

"As I said before," Suresh began again, holding his black briefcase to his chest, "I've come from The Company--"

"Sorry," Chuck interrupted sheepishly, "what exactly is The Company?"

"CIA," Casey replied.

Suresh blinked and frowned. "Um, not exactly... I believe you may have me confused with someone else. Perhaps it would be best if we were alone."

"Anything you need to say to me you can say in front of the nerd," Casey said, jerking a thumb at Chuck.

Chuck was filled with a warm, fuzzy feeling. "Aw, really? Thanks, Casey, that's really--" A thought occured to him. "Wait, shouldn't we be calling Sarah for this?"

Casey made a face at him. "Who's Sarah?" asked Suresh, raising his eyebrows.

That made Chuck pause. Casey, too, from the looks of it; if Suresh was from the CIA, wouldn't he know Sarah was working with them? All of Chuck's fuzzy feelings left him in a rush, especially when Casey's grin turned feral. It was the kind of grin he got right before he shot someone. It was Monday, and Chuck really didn't want to deal with a killing in the Buy More today. That was more of a Hump Day kind of thing.

Suresh didn't seem to notice how close he was to death. He smiled charmingly at them both. "Mr Casey, I'm here to tell you that you are one in millions with extraordinary abilities."

"Well, yeah," said Casey, crossing his arms over his chest. "You didn't need to come all this way to tell me that."

Suresh's smile faltered. "I'm not sure you understand. You have a certain genetic trait that predisposes you to certain... evolutionary aspects."

"You mean like having no appendix or something?" Casey asked.

"Oh, oh, does this mean his brain cavity's twice the size of his jaw?" asked Chuck. Casey glared at him before reaching up to touch his chin. "I had to take an Anthropology class in college," Chuck added.

"Sort of," Suresh conceded, although he looked unhappy to say it. "What I'm saying, Mr Casey, is you can regenerate. You're essentially invulnerable, and from what we know, immortal."

The room went silent. Chuck stared at Casey. Casey stared at Suresh.

"Cool," Casey said. He flashed a big, toothy smile at Chuck. "This is going to make missions fun."

"I never get the good superpowers," said Chuck.
