i hate to tell you this, pony, but that rod is made out of paper.

it was an assignment in my engineering class -- you had to choose an object and make a full-size model of it out of hundreds of sheets of this expensive paper stuck on top of each other.

it was truly an amazing thing, but probably not quite as arousing for you :(
