Edward is, at his core, a Hunter. And he hunts for the enjoyment of the planning as well as the joy of killing something else. Specifically he hunts creatures that are more powerful than he is, gaining more satisfaction in his own abilities because of his success

Szayel would be most amused, but, uh, I don't see him losing? Just because of his stupid ass godmod skills. --; (I really, really hate him. I swear.)

But, I don't mind a few attempts being made on his life~ He likes fun things. People trying to kill him = fun. But his abilities do heavily outclass a normal human, and most of the non normal humans here. (I mean, ugh, he can rebirth himself from his opponent if he takes too much damage. D:)

Sooo before I get into td;lr, and because I have to run to a lecture in about five minutes, if you want to stalk him, feel free, in short. Hey no problem, like I said, he's good, but he's not good enough to beat EVERYONE :P. I've gotta say though that I'm not familiar with the canon, is he a Bleach villian?

Edward wouldn't hunt L. That said, though, if enough targets do fall, L might hunt Edward, if you're okay with that. He'd find it fun.

Makes perfect sense to me :) I'd say waitfor a few targets though first, and I'll try to leave a 'trail' that could be eventually traced back to him after he's done enough work :P :)
