The So, after a really crummy week I felt the need to do some art for myself. Art I have been meaning to do since I got my replacement cell phone.

Since I had to buy a new cover for the phone, I went with a hard plastic one that I purchased from a nice man at the kiosk of our local mall. Cuz' apparently my phone is 'retired'. Old fart, last year's ( Read more... )

Lovely work, the details are very nicely done and so clean ^__^ What do you use to seal things like that? I know th factory paint on my phone chips, is there a way to get custom paint not to?

Thank you!

I actually used model paints, like the type used to paint pewter miniatures. Then once it's totally dry I spray sealed it with matte clearcoat (valspar indoor/outdoor) Might also check car shops and see if anyone has a small jar of clear urethane I can purchase. I figure if it holds up against the weather, maybe it will hold up against whatever abuse I put my phone through. ;3

Ooo I love model paints, the ones from GamesWorkshop can be quite nice.

I use polycrylic from Miniwax that I buy at Home Depot, but I'm always looking for better sealers. So far this one is great but if it gets any nicks from sharop objects it peels badly =/. I imagine straight urethane would work quite well!

That's actually what I'm using, love GW stuff. A tad on the pricey side, but it covers beautifully and hold up really well. Whiiich reminds me, time to visit the local comic/gaming store. I'm on the dregs of black, and white isn't far behind. :p

O.o ...

Shit. Didn't think to use the glow in the dark. Eh, prob for the best, it doesn't cover fantastically.

I'm going to see if I can get the urethane and see how it holds up. I'll let you know, cuz I usually abuse the everloving hell out of my phone too. Hell, accidently threw one in my parent's pool once. ^.^

Looks great, good luck keeping the paint on, I have been struggling with Testors for some time on some jewelry pieces and I find it rubbing off.

Thank you...trying a clear gloss that I use for my glass pendants....it dries almost glass like, so we'll see what happens.
