As Assassins, Malik and his 'brothers' are trained in many things to best overcome a situation with the information and resources they have. Some of things such as a proficiency in Parkour, armed combat and information gathering. Of course, Malik's talents extend further, but this post is meant for the latter of the three: information gathering.
Malik and his fellow assassins are able to do this in a variety of ways:
⊰ Tailing / Following An assassin is able to follow their target without being seen, heard or otherwise noticed. They do this in a variety of ways to include following from a distance and ducking in to hiding places as needed, blending with the crowd (scholars, usually), or following them from a higher level through the use of their Parkour training.
⊰ Interrogation Their method of interrogation is - for the most part - very basic. They press someone with knowledge relevant to the information they seek about their targets. Once they find a living source of information, they will follow their target to a more 'secluded' area and resort to quite literally punching them until the target is willing to speak. They may or may not take physical injury in response (especially if their target is a fighter) but will press on until they have pushed the target to a point where they will give the information they seek.
Interrogations usually end with an assassin killing the source but, for in-game purposes, this will not be the case without appropriate permission.
⊰ Eavesdropping They are also talented in the ways of eavesdropping. They do this from a distance, far away enough to avoid suspicion but close enough to be able to hear and see what they need to. To eavesdrop, they will find their targets, sit or 'blend' somewhere close by and listen until they've heard all they've needed to, the conversation ends or they have reason to suspect their target is aware of their listening.
⊰ Pickpocketing Easily one of their most handy talents, they are able to pickpocket something they deem valuable from the person who holds it. They use this often when maps or letters are exchanged to be delivered to someone else or something of that nature. Obviously, they could easily steal back something stolen from them or take something as they deem it necessary. It should be noted, however, that they do not do this carelessly and to just anyone. As they live by the belief that innocents should not be killed, their mentality could easily apply in the way that they will not steal from the innocent.
So what I ask of all of you is that you give me the yes or no on all of the above. I can understand saying no to any or all of them or even where some characters would easily be able to see through such ploys for various reasons. Simply let me know here just what Malik can and cannot get away with and I'll be sure to remember it, if there is a plausible reason to do any of the above.
Of course, even if you approve one or all of it, I will still nudge you before doing any of it. Thanks!!
