I'm jewish, agnostic, athetist, hindu, muslim...celebrate kwanza...bbbbut everyone who walked into my work wished me a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Do Christians realize not everyone is just like them?

Why is it so offensive for someone to wish you a Merry Christmas? I'm not Christian, and I'm not offended when people say "Merry Christmas." And in turn, I wouldn't be offended at all if someone were to wish me a Happy Hanukkah or something similar. It's easy to sound so righteous and all knowing when you take advantage of someone else's good intentions and spin them into something completely negative and unintended. Don't YOU realize that not everyone is as politically charged as you are? What is the joy in living in a world where it is acceptable for only a select few to acknowledge their own beliefs and their own traditions? Why exlude Christianity and Christmas from that? It's obvious from reading that you value unique heritage and traditions, as long as they sit well with you. If you plan on remaining as political and opinionated as you are now, I suggest getting thicker skin.

On that note, Merry Christmas!

You're not me..so obviously what offends you isn't the same as what offends me. Haha.

Also, this journal where i post my personal thoughts for myself does not say i'm offended, its just really fucking annoying when everyone asks what i got for christmas.

No one is excluding christmas, its deftinally not excluded at all from this union..i don't know waht your talking about? I don't just value unique heritage and traditions, i value all but they don't all apply to me so not everyone should try and wish them upon everyone, then i could have a merry christmas.

See, I celebrate Christmas but I don't consider myself a Christian. Might be hypcritical, but I think modern day society has abandoned the religious part of Christmas and have gone toward the more celebration aspect of it. Sure, people try to remind us that Christmas is about Jesus and the birth of Christ, but with everyone so politically correct and bent out of shape about personal beliefs, it's better to just look at this holiday as a time for giving gifts, receiving gifts, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying life. I understand completely how you feel about not applying the Christian faith to yourself because I most certainly do not but I don't think that "Merry Christmas" is someone's idea of imposing beliefs onto you nor do I think you should take it as such.

With that, hope you had a happy holiday, whatever it was, and have a happy new year, Solle.

i understand what you are getting at. More than likely, several people who wish you a "merry christmas" aren't even christian. "christmas" is just a universal theme now, especially in America, with all the hooblah about it....decorations, presents, etc. so i can say you can't be so quick to judge that, because you don't really know what their religion is. but christmas is definitely the most popular holiday, despite other religions. and that person who left another comment seems like the one who is trying to sound all "self rightous" and bla bla...so pay no mind to them. haha ttyl, lisa
