[The screen flickers on to show a small group standing inside what appears to be a church of some kind. There are bloody bodies on the floor of men and women in armor lying at the feet of Anders, whose then glowing eyes faded back to normal. He faces Karl, an old friend who was made Tranquil, an emotionless drone. The effects from Vengeance somehow restores Karl back to his usual self, but only temporary.]
I would rather die a mage than live on as a Templar puppet.
[Garrett speaks up:] My sister calls being Tranquil is a fate worse than death. Give him peace. [Garrett's right. There are things worse than death. And Anders himself would much rather die than be made Tranquil.]
[Anders shakes his head, clenching his fists, slowing reaching for the small dagger he keeps at his side.] I got here too late. I'm sorry, Karl. I'm so sorry.
[Karl's eyes appear frantic for the last time.] Now! It's fading... [And then they appear calm, content.] ...Why do you look at me like that?
[He approaches Karl with the dagger unsheathed. The other makes no resistance- more likely on part that he cannot feel fear. Anders looks at him one last time, wanting to apologize again for failing him but he knows that the other wouldn't have the capacity to feel offended or sympathy or forgiveness or anything ever again.] Good-bye, Karl. [And he runs the dagger through his friend.]
