[Audio] FILTERED FROM STARWIND/MOONDANCE/TYLENDEL

[There's a strange edge to his voice.]

Now that you're all back to normal... have any of you successfully made a deal with the gods?

((OOC:Post-event, pre-Moondance disappearing))

Striking a deal with deities does not sound wise.

I have no other options. Unless there is someone else here that could bring a life back.

Death isn't something meant to be reversed.

[Narrows his eyes.] Have you ever lost someone you loved?

If they're here, they aren't lost. [/dodges the whole "I don't know, I don't remember" bit.]

But he didn't come here whole. [Van hadn't meant to use correct pronouns, but it slips out in his frustration.]

Have you met any of the dead that come here? They are cold, they have no heartbeat... [And this one in particular had arrived here with an almost equally important part of himself gone forever. That was not something Van could fix with this deal, but the other things...]

Yes I had noticed. Am I to understand, then, he died and arrived in the land of the dead and you'd like to change this?

Yes, you would be correct. [There's some anger behind his words now.]

Intervening in fate is never wise.

I don't care. [There's some childish petulance in that.]

And who are you to give advice? Have you dealt with the gods before?

I've seen a bit of what they can do, and heard a great deal more. Only a fool would lightly think of dealing with them.

Are you a fool?

I was asking for advice from those who have dealt with them, not those who just wish to share their opinions and cast judgments. [He's bordering on yelling now.]

I am not taking this lightly. I understand what I would be giving up. Can you truly not fathom caring so deeply about someone that that wouldn't matter?

To pass judgments, I'd be required to care whether you throw your life away or not. I don't.

There are always consequences, and wishes are never answered as innocently as they are made. Maker go with you, you ignorant fool. I hope the damage is restricted only to you and yours.

[Van glares.]

And I am the one who will take the consequences! It will affect no one but me, go back to whatever it is that you do-- you have nothing to fear. [He almost spits those last words out.]

Oh? Forgive me, then. I was under the impression you were aiming to make a decision for someone else. [Maker save us from idiots.] No one takes kindly to having their lives changed without their approval.

You have no idea what you're talking about, it's not that simple. [And he has no intention of explaining it to him.]
