Some of the events seem random in nature, as if they happen without any particular person or entity causing them.

Exactly, they also seem to have little point, other than perhaps to be distractions. Yet, something about Hecate's speech makes me think that she's not the one responsible for most, if not all, of these events.

Understanding Hades' motives is useful...but not if we don't understand why these other people do what they do.
