[How to explain...] I haven't seen him make any effort to impress anyone -- myself included. If he was an ass to you, yes, I'd mind, but he knows he doesn't have to go out on a limb and make casual conversation with you to stay on speaking terms with me.

Basically... [She shrugs.] Even if I was the reason he tried being nice to you at first, he wouldn't keep it up just because of me. Hell, he still gets on my nerves now and again and I know he doesn't care.
