I would like to take this opportunity to express my sympathies for the late Steve Irwin and his family, and also express my disgust at the internet community for their enormously asshole-ish behaviour in response to the news

I agree wholeheartedly. From one animal lover to another it is great sadness. It disgusts me how people can be so callous and rude toward peoples' passing. Ah well.

You hit the nail with a bullet. I mean the man has just passed away and all people can say is "bout time, lol" I mean how imture is that? People seriously need to grow up and respect that he loved animals more than anything and wanted to share with the world his love for animals and reptiles. He took all costs and the media getting involved when he took his son into the crocidile pit was a bit much. They blew it out of porporion and I think he knew what he was doing. I respected him and I am deeply saddedned that he is gone. He will be greatly missed, and I know what it is like from first hand experience when I lost someone close and everyone else was laughing.
