October is almost over but before we wrap up the month, I need to announce that its Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know your all thinking "why does this matter to me?" Truth is, at our age, it really doesnt. But it really is a big deal when its affecting more women today than ever. Women like our mothers, aunts, sisters and grandmothers. I ( Read more... )

My mom & I pick up practically anything that has the pink ribbon on it because she had breast cancer 5 years ago. I also had a grandmother who had it. We're very passionate about it.

I really like your first graphic.

Its so great to see someone who has a passion for it too! Most girls dont think much about it when Breast Cancer is a VERY real thing. After losing my grandma I thought the least I could do is try to make girls aware of it more and hopefully spread the word along to everyone they know.

Its nice to know someone else cares

I disagree with 'it's not relevant'; you should begin giving monthly self-examinations from ages 20 and up, and clinical exams every 3 years. And one woman in eight who lives to age 85 will develop breast cancer during her lifetime.

So it affects ALL women.

I didnt mean it like that, i never said its not relevent, i was saying that most girls who are 13 or 14 would stop reading the post right after the first thing about breast cancer when it really does affect people. my point was that losing a loved one to breast cancer is just as hard if not harder than thinking of being the one who has it. THAT was my point.

Either way, if i meant that it wasnt relevant i would NOT be here trying to raise awareness would i? I think it is very important to all women. I'm 17, and MOST girls my age know the risk already, but unfortunatly dont start thinking about it yet. Regardless, most girls my age know the risk, which means its VERY important to SPREAD the message along.

That was my point.

Your point was badly worded.

I play a large leadership role at my school, so I get to interact with alot of '13 or 14' year olds, and I'm certain they wouldn't stop reading just because it may not effect them personally. But again.. that's not how it was worded, thus the mix up.

Terribly sorry I misunderstood.

P.S. I think there may be something wrong with your Caps Lock button, as it seems several of your words are capitalized for no reason. ♥
