Thanksgiving Day 11-13-2000

What follows is something I wrote 11-13-2000.  I hope it will make you stop and think about what this day means to you and yours.

Thanksgiving Day...

The leafs are turning, there's crispness in the air and that can only mean one thing...Thanksgiving Day is at hand.  It's a wonderful time of the year.  It's the one day, all year long, that we remember what happen oh so many years ago.  When the Pilgrims held a feast of joy because with the help of the Native Americans, they had made it through the first winter.  So much to be thankful for.

Today for some people it is just another meal.  I hope I never get that way.  I know I may not say it but it is a special day.  It is a day that I give thanks for all the wonderful things in my life.  Every other year I have said the thank you's to myself.  This year I think I should say them out loud.  After all I have a lot to be thankful for.

Ann       You are my life, my soul mate.  You have made me who and what I am today.  Without you my life would be totally empty.

Kids       The three of you have given me many wonderful moments.  You have made sure that my life has not been boring.

Grands-Kids       Three now and one on the way.  Makes getting old worth while.  They also keep you young.

I have so very much to be thankful for in my life.  I should never forget that.  But I know I do at times.  I guess at times we all do.  That's when we need to step back and think about our lives and all the good things in it.  Remember that no matter how bad the rain storm, it's always followed by a rainbow.

Thank you all for a great life.  Every minute of it has been worth while.  Here's to many more.  Happy Thanksgivings.

Things have changed some since I wrote that.  We have been married now for 42 years, we have 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
