Welcome to the Unexpected Box!
Hello and Welcome to this little 100 x 100 community!
I thought I would do a little introduction...
I am a mix media artist. I also have been a graphic artist and for the last 10 to 15 years (on and off) making websites and other print media. When I started using livejournal, I saw this wonderful little 100 x 100 box that seemed to fit a persons personality and/or feelings. As a visual person, I instantly got hooked and scoured icon communities for the 100 x 100 box that fit me. And I found plenty! There are amazing icon artists out there. (Go look at the user info under "Pretties") It took me a while before I decided to dive in and give it a whirl. I made some bases (just cropping and sizing of images with no other details) in early 2005 I finally decided to try my hand at icons with personality - that fit emotions, interests and aspects of a person. I posted them on my journal and then ventured out into a few icon communities before starting this community in December 2006. I started this community because I had people coming to my personal journal wanting to see the icons I made but not really wanting to read my journal.
As you will see from just looking through the archives, my style is not a set style though I do tend to favor the old, grungy kind of messy look. And really I feel that is because my art is kind of that way too. My very first batch of icons, I did grungy old icons...along with many other styles. I play, experiment, explore, learn and just have fun making icons!
So I hope you take them, use them and ENJOY them!
