There was a peace pervading the Garden while Japhrimel waited for Death--his dear Lady Luce, too soon to be visiting her. But he owed her a dance, and those make good bargaining chips. Right

The Tree was warm at his back, little flecks of light moving through the furrows of its silvery bark. Every once in a while a puff of pollen escaped from the upper branches and drifted down, slowly fading from brightness like firework sparkles.
Ezra puttered around, having set up a picnic blanket with an Arabian coffee set and tea set taking it up. And a platter of sandwiches. He sang softly in the Angelic speech as he worked, some little ditty about how the roots draw up and the branches let down and the circle continues even when it looks broken. Eventually he finished and poured out a small mug of very strong coffee.
"Here you are. She'll be here straightaway." He brought it over.
"Good...good." Japhrimel's voice is low and a little uncertain, but he takes the coffee and sips it black, letting it warm him from the inside, letting the caffeine counteract some of the natural lethargy and listlessness the Garden's calm seemed to espouse. "You staying to listen to us talk? You're welcome to--probably even be comforting, really."
That last was his way of saying 'missed you, bro' without totally ruining the mood.
"I will make myself available." He patted the trunk of the Tree. "This place...is as much my native home as Heaven now. I rooted myself to Earth through this manifestation of the Tree of Life so I could look after my part mortal descendants and still do my job. It's why I no longer do the Powerful Scary Warrior Death thing. That part of me has gone to...well, it's gone to seed in a manner of speaking." Literally; that energy now manifested in one of his daughters. "Giving it up was part of my bargain, to be a father on Earth without Falling."
The battle raged and many fell, but the greatest loss, at least the one closest to her, is Japhrimel. She had tried to deny it, but she knew long before she had taken Ghost on their little trip. Before her sister arrived and the whispering started.
When she arrives in the Garden, she makes her way over to the Tree, and places her hand on his shoulder. "Hello, dear. I was hoping that for once I might have been wrong." She moves around to sit on the blanket in front of him, wrinkling her nose a bit.
"You aren't near as cute without the hat." She teases giving a little smirk, trying to keep the mood light despite the weight of the situation. Death, sits cross-legged her hands in her lap.
"Ezrael, good to see you." She smiles over at him as he bustles around. "I wish the circumstances could have been different, but...that is the Way. Thank you for your help."
She isn't sure how much time had passed since she'd left them, but she flickers back into being at the base of the Tree. For the most part she seems, pleased. Or at least satisfied with how things went when she met with Siobhan.
Death takes a seat on the blanket at the base of the Tree and smiles at Jaf. "Hope you didn't miss me too much."
She smiles and reaches up to cup his cheek. "She sends a message back for you. She is well, better now, I think. It eases her to know you are among friends."
Her brow creases slightly as she pulls her hand away and picks up a sandwich taking a small bite before continuing.
"Would you like me to tell you what she says? Or am I interrupting?" She might be being unintentionally drawing out the suspense just a bit, as she takes another small bite of sandwich and looks between the two waiting for an answer.
