After the breakup I decided to write the epic story of Brendon and Ryan. As time wore on I realized that by the time I finished it, there would be no one left in fandom to read it. I don't really have the heart anymore for bandom, anyway. But here's the first part of the epic that never was.Upon meeting Ryan Ross, Brendon shook his hand and said ( Read more... )

(I am fully disclaiming now that you will most likely get a comment on all of these from me, mind you, I would've if they'd been posted to a comm etc, so it's just that you're getting them all at once).

This would have been the epicest (is it even a word?) of epics, and now I totally hate them for stealing your bandom mojo with their "musical differences" (except Ryan, I could actually probably hate all the others, but never him). I like that it is obviously inspired by the canon from that time, but with your own additions to it, they all seem utterly plausible. Naturally my favourite bit was the kiss from Brendon's brother.

As it's their story, would you have included the band split? I assume that eventually they would have got together to some extent, how would it have affected that if it was included? (You don't have to answer, and if you do, I don't expect an epic answer, just the basic gist)

It was really the breakup that inspired me to want to write it! It would have gone through then, I had this big list of things I wanted to cover, because just having been such an intense fan for the last three and a half years I feel like I've seen a lot and known a lot that hasn't necessarily been covered, and it seemed a shame to waste all that (oh well, I guess ( ... )

Holy cats I just love this. I won't mourn its being unfinished, because what is there is just so, so good that it would be completely ungrateful to ask for more. I laughed out loud several times, (um, "Real women have curves" and "We sleep fully clothed. Sometimes in robes" for instance), and god, I wish you were Kitty Kelley writing their unauthorized bio, I wish this were their Behind the Music episode, it all feels realer than real. This reminds me of that great Minutemen song "History Lesson Part 2" in a way, loving and nostalgic and proud and sad, and suddenly I feel sad all over again.

Thank you for sharing, seriously, thank you.

<3!! I tell you what, man, this whole thing was really meant to be the entire story of Panic! At The Disco, just writing out everything that I knew had happened to them, everything I'd read, heard, seen, etc. plus, of course, the behind the scenes love story of Brendon and Ryan that contributed to the breakup. I thought I'd be able to write a happier ending for them eventually, but - I don't know. Maybe someday, as friends at least, they'll have one of their own.

Thank you for the incredibly sweet comment.

Detailed upthread! Everything was supposed to happen, basically, staying as close to canon as possible while detailing a Ryan/Brendon relationship we never knew about. Alas, alas.
