This year had so much promise and it just sputtered to the finish line.
Met tons of people and became more social.
Yet became more internal with things.
Friendships stronger.
Friendships weaker.
Friendships different.
Many single dates that had no potential.
A couple that did and just didn't work out.
A relationship that I invested a lot into and then ended for reasons out of my control.
And looking back, I'm in the same place I was a year ago, except I'm a year older, a year wiser and a few pounds heavier.
Ten Things I Learned This Year
1) Men can't commit to being my boyfriend, but I make a great friend! I've considered having a shirt made on neighborhoodies.com that says 'Let's just be friends'. It'd be hysterical in the worst way.
2) Don't give so much of a shit about what my friends are doing without me. They'll invite me...eventually. Maybe. Probably not. But it's not a big deal, because I got my own things to do.
3) Buddy's is not life, but you do learn life lessons. Like don't sleep with married bar regulars or co-workers when you're with someone else, don't start stuff at softball games and don't make racist (but true) comments to customers.
4) Summer is heaven sent. (Too bad I have to start taking summer classes.)
5) Drinking isn't evil, but it is overrated.
5a) I am not a clubber by any means.
6) iTunes playlists, Target trips by myself and Starbucks runs with Em C are the best medicines.
7) Moving out of my house eventually would be in everyone's best interest.
8) I can do well in school when I take afternoon classes so I can sleep in.
9) Cutting my hair is a good idea so it looks halfway decent.
10) I'm still the same dork I was back in elementary school. It's not a bad thing. It's just the way I am.
No New Year's resolutions. I don't make promises I can't keep.
Pessimistic? No. It's realistic.
