How many of you have ever been in a bad relationship? I have a question, was the problem the way that that other person treated you, or was it the fact that you let them do it to you. Nonetheless, I think I get what you're saying. There's also a country song I love that has the lyrics, "He's the one who will be missing you, and you'll only miss the man that you wanted him to be" which I think can have a lot to do with it- you love what you keep waiting for the person to be, because you just know how great that would be.
The most problematic relationships I've had tend to become so when the two people stop understanding each other- worse, that they don't care that they don't understand each other, and just go on thinking they understand each other when each knows that the other doesn't understand them at all. It's such a terrible feeling.
If only life were so simple that everything could always be narrowed down to one problem, easily changeable and could be quickly made right.
