[Seeing the distressed child, Zelda hurries over, standing close enough to offer her help but not too close to upset her further.]

Who is trying to hurt you?

[She has a feeling that like everything else she has seen tonight, this isn't as real as it seems. But she's not going to stand around feeling powerless. She's going to try to help.]

[ At first there's a wary look at Zelda's appearance, as if the little girl isn't sure if she can trust the woman.. But a moment after she runs over, clinging to the woman's clothes while nearly wailing. ]

They're-- ... they're going to kill me, they're going to hurt me, just like they did with everyone else..! I.. I don't want to die..! [ A sob. ]

NOPE...but okay, because she's cute

[She kneels down so that she can hold the crying child close, looking around as she does so to watch for any signs of danger.]

[Gently whispering,] Shhh, everything will be alright. No one will hurt you as long as I am here.

[ There's a few more moments of just sobbing against her, clinging for her life, but then she peeks up at the woman's face instead. Her look is almost a bit curious. ]

... N-no one will hurt me..? No one at all..? [ Her voice sounds a bit hopeful. ]

[She meets her gaze, nodding gently.]

I will keep you safe.

[Hopefully she'll be able to do so. One could never tell what would happen in a dream.]

[ She lets out a deep breath, almost in relief, but still clings to Zelda as if she might be caught by the men again if she lets go, even if they're gone now. ]

I.. [ She sniffles a little. ] I tried to run away earlier, b-but.. they caught me again..

[She continues to hold her close and offer as much comfort as she can. But she also needs to find out who has been hurting this poor girl.]

[ She frowns a little, but it's more out of curiosity and surprise that she doesn't know than anything else. She quickly continues to explain. ]

T-the men from the orphanage, of course.. They're really, really cruel, they were going to kill all of us--!

[Her expression turns serious as she takes this in.]

Are your companions still at the orphanage?

[ That actually makes her drop her gaze. She was caught last, she managed to run away the furthest, so the others had already been caught, abandoned by her.. Perhaps that was her fault as well. ]

... The.. men got them.. ... They a-already tortured all of the others.. [ Her eyes get a bit teary again as she thinks back on it. ] I don't even know if Eriko-chan is still alive or n-not--!

[She tries very hard to keep the anger to herself, since she doesn't want the girl to mistakenly think that it's directed at her.]

Do not give up hope. We will find a way to help and keep those men from hurting any others.

We have to try and help everyone..

[ That, at the very least, seems somewhat fair. She should at least try to give the other girls the same chance she got here.. ]

I-if we don't, they won't last long here.. They'll all be killed..

We cannot do it alone, however. We'll need to find others to help us.
