Well, lovely. Everyone he'd rather avoid is here, and those he actually likes (all...two of them) were here, but are now gone. And this place is a bloody mess. So Kay is now looking for whoever is in charge to give them a piece of his mind.

Oh come now. SOMEONE must be in charge. Surely.

He's not in charge, but he'd sure like to find whoever is. The plothole is not giving him cigarettes any longer, and he has no idea how to find food--and he's a bit too proud to take charity from the fairy Roman git. John is on edge, and he'll bite off a terse "Out of my way, duck" as he passes.

"And why should I," he snaps back without thinking. Frankly, this is the kind of outburst almost everyone ignores from him at home, by now, and he barely thinks twice about it.

Oooh, look, someone to take out this aggression on! "Because if you hadn't noticed, I'm starving, and I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm above putting you on the menu."

"Like to see you try it." Kay could use a good fight himself.

"Why, Sir Kay. You look the picture of good spirits today."

"Of course I would run into you," with a scowl. "Have you heard any rumors about who's in charge around here?"

"The general consensus seems to be no one. Why, are you planning to take over?"

"Well, it's small wonder the place is a mess. Half the population wandering around like it's a desert for lack of food and drink, no one knowing where anyone else lives. Jesu."

Well - here's a Firekeeper, wandering in from outside dragging a peacock and looking very pleased with herself. She's never seen one of these weird looking birds before. Noticing Kay, her tail thumps the ground once or twice, she drops the peacock, spits out a few feathers and is promptly human again. "You are angry about something," she says, without further ado. Manners, after all, are silly.

"Found out a friend was here, but left and is back again, but I don't know that yet, and everyone's gotten crazy with the magic shot and limited game."

Firekeeper frowns and takes it one step at a time. "A friend was here? But not anymore?"

He nods. "He left before I arrived."

"There thou art, sir."

"...aye, here I am."

"And art thou displeased to see me?" raising her eyebrows.

"No, lady, but I am attempting to find who is in charge of the place. You do not know, do you?"
