Question for non-rennie friends

I have a question for my non-rennie friends.
How do you view a rennie, aka a renaissance festival patron/cast/vendor who dresses up in garb and attends faires around the country? What was your view before you met me or other rennies? Has knowing me changed your view at all?
I ask this because Derek, Pastry, and I were discussing it on our way home
