I don’t think I can summarize the entire weekend so I will just go through my favorite points.
The group this weekend consisted of me, Derek, Selina, Lee, Marti, Josh, Becky, Dave, Danny, Mike, Tim, and Sheena.
Saturday
-The Bloody Compass is getting even more notoriety. Drunk & Sailor included the name of our ship in one of their songs!
-I got a running hug from several of my friends (Jinx, Courtney, Whitney, etc)
-Got to be a catty for Capt Amos in rat pucking
-During human chess I was on the blue side and got to be a singing challenge and won! Oh my god I was soooo nervous I was shaking. I decided to sing Old Irish Blessing since I know it so well. I’m told I sounded really good. I’m just glad I didn’t suck. Derek even pointed out that I did it in a corset, which is even more impressive.
-I got to officially meet Doug (Courtney’s boyfriend) and Joseph (Jinx’s boyfriend)
-Saw Jackie and Kelly
-Got to see Lucy and Liam. Had a good conversation with Lucy on several things.
-I got Derek into a kilt!!!!! (Yes, there are pictures) He says he’s done wearing pants now. He likes his kilt too much. Hehe. And Lee got one. Derek got the Blackwatch tartan. Lee got a plain black one. Both very fitting of them. We all thought kilts would be better for them because of the heat. Now they just need to learn how to properly sit in one. Yay for having females to teach.
-I love Drunk & Sailor’s new song Ren Faire Day. We also now have their new CD.
-Got to talk to Felix after she shouted “I like your bandanas!” to us as we walked by. She is the one who made the bandanas. We need to order more. I want a green one, Danny wants a green one, we need to get our puppies one, and then we have more crew members who want one as well as friends of crew. We will probably have to sell them because none of us can afford to just give them away and the crew’s chest is rather empty right now.
-Group chats and s’mores at the camp site were just so much fun. Just getting to know everyone was fun.
-Girl chats by the lake.
Sunday
-Apparently it was decided that I look even better in blue and green than red. I am amused by it because for so long I was told red is my color. Now I’m told it’s not. So, I don’t know. My red outfit isn’t going away, I like it too much. But I do like how the blue and green looks on me as well.
-Got to see and get a hug from Grace (and she spun me!)
-Got to flog Dave for his birthday spanking. I think everyone on the crew and a few cast members got a whack. He also got taken up on stage at the Twisted Thistle by Misplaced Laces and sang to for his birthday. Yea, Derek orchestrated it all. But Dave did say it was one of the best birthdays he has had in awhile so mission accomplished I guess.
-Lee’s friend Time wore his dragon outfit to faire. The pictures I got were great. As soon as we got into faire he was chasing Lord Alexander around, and Lord Alexander played right along. Then, he danced with the Ice Cream Dragon vendor they have there this year. He was in a challenge at human chess where it was first Captain Says, but they declared it a tie so it was a dance off. He did the Macarena, which we are calling the Dracarena now.
-Lee’s challenge in the match was a reverence contest. They had to show reverence to King Robert the Bruce. It was funny because Lee is actually a descendent of Robert the Bruce. I told that to Capt Amos, and he used that in the red team’s favor (we were on the red team this time). We won that challenge. And the whole chess match.
-Apparently Drunk & Sailor and the boys like it when they play the bouncy songs (think 4 well endowed ladies in bodices, and one lady with a nice asset, jumping up and down……yea.) They actually played a song where they just said ‘Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy just to get us to bounce. Yea, we did bounce.
-The crew got pulled up on stage by Drunk & Sailor for the Rattlin Bog. I now know the hand signs so I can practice those too.
-Marti & Josh got engaged.
-I got to be “HUH!” girl for Drunk & Sailor. Along with Jinx, Selina, Marti, and Becky. Yea, there were 5 of us up there. After each verse we rotated, and then for the last one, they had the 5 of us circle them. Instead of saying Holiday in the last verse, it was “Best Day Ever!” Amos kissed Philip on the cheek for suggesting it. Philip had to choose who the Huh girl would be and he said all of us who had raised our hands.
-We got even more requests for Bloody Compass bandanas.
-Dinner at Cracker Barrel
Changes at KYRF from last year
-The old tea garden is now a Kid’s Kingdom where kids can play. Wonderful idea I think.
-No Dr. Kaboom this year L
-They added a misting bridge. It sprays a mist so you can walk through and cool off.
-More food and drink choices at the Great Hall
-Twisted Thistle has a fence and a more permanent building this year.
-The faire now has a traveling ice cream vendor dressed like a dragon
