Juri heaved a sigh and stepped forward before anyone in her group even had the opportunity to do so. She reached out for the bow but stopped when she almost held it, glaring at John. "Can I give it a shot if I promise to be a good girl, or am I required to step aside and play with your stupid toys? Because as flattered as I am, I don't think those things would teach me decent archery."

"If you can construct a bow out of those, then I'll let you shoot it."

Quinn bit her lip and aimed the arrow at the target. However, she was too busy checking to make sure that John was looking at her, that her arrow landed in the grass about three feet in front of the target.

Dammit! I've been practicing..

Of course he was paying attention to her. John is a perfectly responsible instructor who would never leave teenagers with weapons unsupervised.

"Quinn, what'd I tell you before? You've gotta relax. That bit lip means you're not."

It's hard to relax around you.. if I relax, my hair starts to look bad or something.

She gave a tiny sigh of frustration.

Ok, just concentrate and don't look at him. Pretend he isn't there.

She reached for another arrow and fitted it in the bow. This time it hit the target in the outermost circle.

Better.
