She makes him oatmeal for breakfast.
The mage took off before dawn to beat the crowds at the market and left the princess in charge of the kitchen. And so instead of a breakfast so sweet he would barely be able to force it down, he finds oatmeal. Lightly spiced, from the smell of it.
She looks at his surprised expression, then flicks her gaze down to the floor, her face turning red. "I... you don't seem to like sweets. We used to make it back home. I think. I remember making it sometime. I thought you might like it, but I can make something else-"
He puts a hand on the top of her head, cutting off her rambling abruptly before he takes a seat, picks up a spoon and tastes it. "It's good."
He doesn't have to look up to see her smile in response. He can feel it.
heh, if you check out the timestamps, I clearly didn't spend a lot of time on any of them (I'm starting to feel like taking fic requests is more of an exercise than anything else - I may start taking them on a regular basis to keep me going). Clearly, TRC is the fandom I'm most comfortable with.
