Chiron studies is a great and exciting new program offered at PSU that I have recently been educated about. Essentially, it (the program, Chiron) facilitates undergraduate student taught classes, which can be taken by other undergraduate students for credit ( Read more... )

i dont think you get to choose the which class you teach...

that wouldn't make sense if you didn't get to choose the class you wanted to teach... how would you be an effective teacher attempting to educate students about something you were not yourself educated about?

ya know. like i said. i could be wrong. it doesn't make sense. but my mentor class for greek civ was that undergrad teacher... and he knew nothing about greek civ. he could have been talking about a different program at psu. but i thought i'd say...

and! it does sound like a good idea though!

chiron has been available at PSU for a while - it is a cool program though. you'd have to talk to the student board to see if you get to pick exactly what you teach...

and if you do indie rock, you really need to start with the beatles - velvet undeground were far too classicaly trained (I think Cage and Reed both graduated from Juliard or the New York Conservatory) and were doing "indie" to be hip; the beatles, however, were almost completely clueless about musical training and played because it was in their blood - almost do or die...that feels more representative of the indie rock soul to me at least.
