I'm starting to get e-mails from local venues regarding SXSW (like Schubas sponsoring this magical free show with Rural Alberta Advantage, Maps and Atlases, We Are Scientists, We Were Promised Jetpacks, and other worthwhile bands) and I'm seriously starting to do the math for driving to Austin and going to free shows and maybe staying at a Red Roof ( Read more... )

March 17-21, approximately. I have to check with the boyfriend, because we'd be working around his class schedule and his spring break's the next week so we might want to stay an extra day or two (if he decides to go).

I've also never been to SXSW so I don't know if it's going to be possible to drive from a sketchy hotel in the 'burbs to the festival or if that's a terrible idea.

Gah, if I didn't have to be in State College, PA and Morgantown, WV for work that week, I would SO BE THERE. Like holy shit. I've been dying to get to SXSW for years and the lineup actually seems decent this year!!

Yeah, seriously.

And Pitchfork, Chicago's one music festival worth doing, just sold out of 3-day passes, so this is pretty much my best chance to still drag friends to a music festival this year!
