TR RP for J.D. (and George Weasley)

Oct 06, 2008 19:24

The trouble with offering to bribe people was that when you got what you wanted, you had to go through with the bribe. Not that Jo was averse to making biscuits of any kind, it was just that it wasn't that easy the first time, given the lack of chocolate and proper scales. And having to remember all the amounts in the recipe ( Read more... )

George had read the notice up on the board (he read it most days, as a matter of fact, in case of something interesting turning up), and while he was shy of twenty-one by several months he doubted that it would make all that much difference. Besides, if there were biscuits involved George Weasley would say just about anything.

He strode into the kitchen, leaning against the doorframe, and peered in at the baking girl, an amused smirk on his face. "Does it matter," he said suddenly, "that my brother and I are just shy of the mark?" he asked.

Jo jumped at the sudden voice, but covered it by standing up. Not that it was much of a cover-up considering that she'd split some of her tea at the same time. "Oh, not at all. I'm sure it won't make a difference." She grinned at him and went to get a cloth to wipe the table with.

"I had a bet about whether there were any twenty one year olds with forehead wrinkles," she explained. "All we need to do is find J.D., prove to him that you do, then you can have as many biscuits as you want. I made plenty," she added, as if the trayful wasn't proof enough of that. "But they probably need a couple more minutes to cool down." They did, but just in case they hadn't turned out right it would also prevent him from finding out what they tasted like until it was too late.

"Brilliant," said George, and grinned. "Technically Fred'n I turned twenty in April, but time's funny," he said, holding his hand out like a plan and wobbling it from side to side.

George brushed messy red hair out of his forehead and raised his eyebrows, showing Jo just how wrinkley his forehead could get. "I know what you're thinking," he said, shaking his head. "I'm so young to look so old." His voice held a vaguely pitiful tone. "But I'd be lying if I said that we hadn't experimented with aging potions and such from time to time." He grinned.

"Oh, it is," she agreed. "I think I'm twenty-two, but I'm not really sure any more." It was more likely she was than twenty-one or twenty-three, but when she wasn't sure what year it was at home, never mind what month, it made calculating that sort of thing tricky.

She smiled at his tone. "Oh, I'm not thinking that at all. Have you met the Doctor?"
