It was too hot for all this running Jo decided as she stopped to catch her breath. As she looked around to check if she was still being followed she was glad to see only the Amazon around her. It should have been comforting - she'd lived here long enough - but it only showed her how many places there were to hide

Jo outran the Toclafane for as long as she could but it was inevitable that they caught up with her and surrounded her. She put her hands up although she knew it was a futile gesture, but she didn't stop looking round for an exit. Except when they surprised her by not killing her.

Being a prisoner was a step up from killed at least, but they didn't take her to where Cliff was and she started to wish she'd stayed with him. Maybe they'd have been able to break out of there together. She might not have had to use her escapism skills often since marrying Cliff and leaving the Doctor, but she still remembered it all.

By the time she was on the Valiant (and any other time she would have been excited about being in space again) she was determined not to show her fear of what might happen to her. So she stood up straight in front of the Prime Minister with her arms folded and said, "Whatever it is you think you want me to do, I'm not going to do it."

"You bring destruction," she replied, entirely uncaring of what might happen to her for saying for saying such things. "Just because I'm up here doesn't mean there aren't people suffering on Earth." And it didn't mean she wasn't necessarily going to suffer here either
