I thought about getting a Kindle: but I figured new technology/updates would constantly be coming out for it that would cost money, in addition to the money I'd use buying it. Not to mention my eyes start to hurt after a while a computer, so I figured the Kindle would be similar.
I bet its awesome for text books though, if you can get them that way. (I wouldn't have to cart around my "The Complete Pelican Shakespeare" to every class! D:)
Plus, I just love having a shit ton of books on shelves. :D
Unless you're getting a new kindle each time one comes out, there hasn't been anything so far by way of new tech or updates for it (or if there has, they've been free and I haven't noticed.) The eyestrain thing worried me too before I got one (actually, before I tried out my mom's for a week--I rarely buy anything unless I can test it first myself), but it's not backlit, so it's just like reading a book. The technology's actually really cool: there's actual ink that moves around each time you turn the page. It's like the most epic etch-a-sketch there ever was
