This OS is bizarre. Took me an hour to figure out how to get a recognizable browser up. Eva has her laptop but mine is being used for program analysis. Along with about five other computers. This is heavy coding work... reminds me of working on the kids.
Eva's asleep. She suggested I get some rest too. I haven't been able to sleep for two days. Heavy coffee intake may be to blame, but this is all too exhilirating. I mean, this - this is an android! We're building it! Something with this level of functionality has never been accomplished in my world. It's big sci-fi. But if anyone would be qualified to do it, it'd be me. I'm having a blast. This is my element.
A good portion of the frame is done. The majority of the body is driven by voice coil-type electromagnetic actuators, which should allow for more silent movements. Much of the same technology I used in my own actuators is being applied. Programming of autonomic responses and sense processing is being beta-tested and run through simulation. As soon as the hands are completed - which admittedly could take a while - the servo fluid system can be inserted. I've been experimenting with force-sensitive resistors and temperature sensors, hopefully to embed into the silicon skin once we get that fabricated. The head is a much more delicate device, one I may take upon myself to work on exclusively.
░▒░░╝╜▒ggu7?2à?╟▒▓▓ Dammit! I hate this thin▒░▒aq2^à34444▒ Orlando help me out here, fuck. Everything's coming out garbled. Anyway.
Eva has proved herself to be a very capable assistant. She's competent, no question, but... well, sloppy. I'm used to having things in order (even if I'm the only one who sees it), but the way she works, it's much more organic and on-the-fly. She gets the job done, but it's damn nervewracking to see parts strewn on the floor and her working barefoot in a room with dozens of live wires scattered around. Hope she doesn't take my gruffness too personally. I get in a mode, you know, I can't handle people and machines at the same time. I don't really mean it. And personally, I think the arms are getting jealous.
I'm babbling, but this is such a fantastic opportunity. I'm doing something useful again. I'm helping someone. Though even if I wasn't I'd still relish doing this. When this is over... I'd like to try applying some of this work in other ways, back home.
...Oh yeah, and uh. Eva kind of. Turned into a guy. Almost forgot about that. Luckily I wasn't affected by this "virus", but it was certainly a shock for both of us. I still don't know what to think. Apparently a lot of other community members had the same thing happen, so. I blame it. I feel a little guilty for being more comfortable around her - well, him - now that he's male.
Hell with this. I'm going back to installing Medusa motor controllers.

((A good portion of Otto's technobabble is care of
MIT's Robotic Life Media Lab. Yes, I actually do research these things. No, I don't have anything better to do. But it's fun! ^_^;))
