Well, I think I have found an engine to replace my dead one. The engine plus installation will be about $450. I haven't signed off on the deal yet. The engine is still in a car and is drivable. That sounds like a good deal for an engine, but like you said, going into it blindly could be bad; your brother will look out for you, so you've got that going for you, which is good. Now I know very little about cars, as you know, but it seems to me that every valve or tube needs to match up with every valve or tube opening in your car's body, otherwise it won't work...like carbon monoxide would be my worry for you. I guess there's always the chance this engine could die too depending on its age and how previous owners took care of things, changed oil regularly, etc.
