The memorial's chief architect told NPR that the quote was "a paraphrase of the original statement based on design constraints."

Meaning, I suppose, "Hey, there's only so much room on the wall."

The real problem with the paraphrase is that it requires that you know the original phrase to begin with. I have to say, with all the reading I've done on Dr. King...I'd not run across this phrase before. I really would have thought if you were going to memorialize this man - I have a dream - would have been far and away the more recognizable and memorable phrase.

Yes, that would be the blindingly obvious one. I guess it didn't fit the agenda.
