I'm really sick of people who attempt to say Rap is a better form of music than Rock*. It is sort of like saying McDonalds has better food than a top rated restaurant in France. You indeed may enjoy McDonalds more, and you are entitled to that. However, your right to an opinion ends there ( Read more... )

People are entitled to having their own opinion, if they prefer rap over rock that is their own personal preferance. I don't like rap but I think if people like it they should listen to it all they like ( ... )

There is a difference between a good piece of music and a good sounding piece of music.

An electronic beat may sound good, but that does not reflect the amount of work put into it, the ability of the person who made it, or how that beat would sound when combined with anything else.

To you, that beat may be extremely pleasing, but to say it is a better piece of music than one of Beethoven's symphonies is rediculous.

Regardless of which you'd rather listen to, the quality of the piece music in question can be determined.

I agree with what you said. Being in a rock group DOES take a lot more talent than rapping.

I don't get why people bash other peoples choices in music. It's all an opinion. It's like saying "Whats your favorite color?" "Red" "Well red sucks because it's not my favorite color".

Like Tool. I know a TON of people who like Tool, yourself included. The thing is, their music is not what I inparticular like. I wiill however tell anyone I think they are an amazing group of musicians and I like they're lyrics, etc. 90% of the time I listen to things that are pleasing to me to listen to. I really don't care about what they're saying or what went into it.

People who say "rap" is better than "rock" simply because they like the sound are ignorant. If you compare the talent/time/effort it takes (usually) to form a great rock band to what it takes to be a rapper...you're likely to find that a rock band is much more difficult.
