well i don't know if you already listen to them, but two of my favorite bands are BRAID and Hey Mercedes. braid broke up in the mid-late nineties, and hey mercedes broke up in january [i'm so sad]. first listening to either of them, especially braid, you might think they just sound like noise. but if you keep listening and acquire a taste, they are geniouses of indie music. :)

oh, also.. the white octave [more grunge sounding i guess], the weakerthans [emo but calming, they're cute], and wheat [also pretty mellow but really catchy]. :)
