['Security'.

At least, that's what most people call it. To the public, the Turks are a well trained group of agents better than your average bodyguard, rented out to celebrities and politicians and those who feel the need to flaunt their money by making them into showdogs. Turks are always easy to spot, even in their seemingly inconspicuous black suits suits- Everyone knows a Turk when they see one, and everyone knows a Turk did whatever necessary to complete a job.

This mentality bleeds though in their lesser known activities, in circles any upstanding moral citizen would never find themselves to be. Everybody knows which parts of the city are Turk territory, the small corner they have carved out for themselves. Everybody also knows that they refuse to form ties with anyone else. By themselves, they've stood for a good long time without bothering anyone, until That Incident.

They don't take kindly to other gangs messing in it.]

[The police, likewise, usually follow the gangs' lead. They largely have an agreement with the Turks, a certain understanding: they'll not interfere with the Turks so long as the Turks keep the law generally in mind.

Detective Edgeworth, however, is something of an idiosyncratic officer. He does not precisely respect the lead set by his coworkers. And, consequently, when it comes down to it - he goes by himself to speak with the Turks, they who usually are left alone, with regards to a certain murder.

He's not altogether certain how to arrange a meeting with them, however, so he simply tries wandering through their territory.]

You look a little lost.

[It's entirely possible, if not the truth, that she had slipped out from one of the sidestreets before she spoke. Either way, the street Edgeworth had been on that had been only rather empty before suddenly having another person in it, speaking from behind him. That voice comes from someone who hardly looked a day over twenty, if even that, and she is wearing one of those suits.]

[He tenses, but does not, to his credit, jump. And, to his credit, in spite of her youth and the sweetness of her face, he doesn't poo-poo the notion that she is who she clearly is. He just looks at her levelly.]

I am not, precisely. You're a Turk?

[You came in here knowing what you were doing, even if you were playing innocent. Of course you did, that's the only reason The Sisters would see someone. A quarter of the cash up front before you were even granted audience, led into the depths of the club even past where the manager's office was. The setting is one of luxury and plush, and indeed, the woman in front of you is as feline as you've heard (or expected, if such dealings had happened before.), the silver half of the twins who were known as being the best of the best.]

Eriya isn't here right now. [She purrs, not even standing to greet.] but I can decide just fine for the two of us. How can I help you today~?

MILES EDGEWORTH | Detective mentis_reae April 23 2011, 02:56:38 UTC
[Detective Edgeworth, with his tired eyes and thin mouth, is not by any means bad at his job. Indeed, he may well be one of the most intelligent men on the force; he's keen-eyed, quick-witted, observant, logical, and is intensely diligent. Others, perhaps, are better at interviewing witnesses, and others are better at tracking down suspects, and others are better at navigating departmental politics.

And others, more to the point, are not cowards. They do not freeze, unable to pull the trigger, staring and pale, when attacked. And they're not ostracized by their fellow policemen as a result.

He rubs his mouth as he looks down at the crime scene, then glances up again. He has a class tonight - he's taking night classes, pursuing his law degree - but he's quite certain he'll not make it...This crime, brutal and bloody, will require all his efforts. He'll be working well past midnight.]

Edgeworth, someone to talk to you -

[One of the other officers calls to him. Edgeworth turns away from the crime scene, eying this "someone" with no ( ... )

[Jack shifts from side to side, uncomfortable in this uniform. He's uncomfortable in all uniforms, honestly, but a policeman's is especially discomfiting. It's embarrassing, it's bizarre-- and it brings home a paycheck and does a good deed, and so he puts up with it.

As one of the newest and mouthiest of the recruits, he's thrown with one of the reputed worst of the force-- Miles Edgeworth. A joke. Jack's only seen the man once or twice, but it doesn't matter-- he's already resentful.]

You don't gotta look at me like that, I ain't gonna shoot you. [A beat.] Sir. I'm here to assist.

[Edgeworth hears that pause before the "sir." He sees the irritation on the officer's face. And he hears what sounds very much like a reference to a shooting, and surely that's a reference to his paralysis in that incident last year. So Edgeworth immediately dislikes this...]

Officer Kelly.

[The unwelcoming expression on Edgeworth's face hardly changes as he quickly and harshly issues an order to the clearly-green officer.]

Cordon off the area another five feet back. The first set of officers set the perimeter too close.

[And let him deal with the onlookers who'd already assembled at the mouth of the alley. Best of luck to the fellow.]

[Jack's face freezes for a moment-- cordon? He had gotten the barest of educations while in school, and his vocabulary could be generously described as limited-- but he can guess what that means. Nodding, he turns to shift the yellow caution tape back-- or at least, try.

It's not quite as easy as it sounds. The crowd had gotten fairly thick, and though it wasn't particularly rowdy, no one was very eager to move back for an obviously wet behind the ears cop. Finally, after much strained politeness:]

For crissake, I'll smack two o' your heads together if you don't get back! Move!

Roxas || Gangsta' Fffff. What. oath2oblivion April 23 2011, 03:23:33 UTC
[He's been a part of the streets now for what at least feels like as long as he can remember. Which wasn't always the case. He knows at one point he probably had a family. But he can't remember them now. He's lucky he even knows his own name still. Safe to say, he's been in some fairly close calls. He looks kind of beat, this clothes aren't what they used to be. But he takes the days as he goes. Enjoying the good times when he has them. Living off the adrenaline and thrill of his pounding heart when things get intense.

Because he knows as he runs through to his next target, he's not alone in all this. And that's what makes all the trouble worth it. Sometimes even fun at the idea of making what would seem too risky and maybe even impossible for people very plausible to him.]

[ There was still one part of his family he couldn't give rid of, though. He felt attached to the hip with Roxas; always doing things along side him, and going with whatever he went through. They had to stick together. They where all each other had... right?

After all they've been through, things seen and accomplished, one would think Sora would have a list of regrets-- sins he wished to never look back on. Yet, none of which he thought to be true. He was always the carefree type of boy. A ditz, never that great in school, but always mislead into the 'misunderstood' category. A 'goody-goody' would never be the term to use on the streets. No, not here. They had turned Sora into a different person, though on the outside he always just looked the same.

Smiles. ]

'Ey.

[ The laid back teen called to his side. Sora had taken a step forward, arms outward with a stretch before lazily putting them behind his head. He smiles- of course- to the twin at his side. ] You look kinda beat, wanna take a break?

[That brother of his. Such a pain in the ass he could be. No, in truth, it's Sora that's a lot of the reason he keeps going. He wants to go on. Even when things get hard. It's Sora who found him when things went wrong and he couldn't even remember his name. But while most might have wallowed in self-pity, might have held each other at arm's length over amnesia, Roxas had kept close to his bro. Arguably, even, he's even closer to him.

He's not carefree like Sora necessarily. But he knows they have to do what they have to do to survive. So, he'll let him be that way. He'd even take all the blame if he could- though he knows Sora wouldn't accept that. But for now, he'll just be glad to have someone beside him that gives him that same idiot smile. The one Sora currently fashions himself with at that moment as he addresses Roxas. Roxas raises a brow before grinning himself.]

But we haven't even gotten to the best part of today yet. You know the day's never the same without a bit of icing on the cake. [His smile grows just a little mild. ( ... )

[ Roxas. It had been a hard one- not only with a vanishing family life, but also the an incident that had happened not too long ago. The only family he had left-- the source of hope he clung to-- had forgot nearly everything. Call it selfishness, but Sora would refused to leave Roxas' side, even through that time. Though helping the other try to trigger the memories lost, Sora himself felt a sense to refuse what was happening. It would only make sense, right? If Roxas forgot about him, then there would be no one left.

It was pure determination that drove to boy to assist as much aid as possible. And for that, he was grateful. An unbreakable relationship. ]

I gotcha. [ That idiot smiles grows. Hey, someone has gotta keep up with the ray of sunshine in a dark alley, right? ] Just don't bring up cake-- you're making me hungry!

[He is easily the most visible person here, long silver hair a testament to the late Elder who was his Brother, almost a split image of the other save for a too-slender face and frame. The leather also marks him; One of the highest ranking members, of the 'Family'. It was no surprise he was here- One of them had to show up. As the middle child and likely the most behaved, he's obviously the one to go into the public eye.]

Ignore the swine. [He tells the ones with him- loud enough so that their police escorts can hear. The protesters are loud and angry, perhaps rightly so. Do alleged killers deserve to have a funeral?] Those who do not understand Mother's ways are simply acting like animals. What else can one expect?

[That is coming from those who may have operations that are always alluded to, but never formally linked to the Church and Religion started in this very city.]

((ooc: Police escort, protester who snuck in, devout follower- anything you can think of is welcome! :3))

[Didn't you know? Visible means easy target practice. At least it would be the case if the situation could work to his advantage. But right at that moment, he's gotta play the good cop. Even if this motherfuckin' reeks of batshit. It always has. It always will so long as those brothers hold a foundation like they do. He needs to find any opening. Because today's going to be the day, he's certain. A day that change will be upon them. There will be more blood. And maybe it'll lead to more chaos. But there's so much underlying chaos in the city as is. And someone has to make the move before they do.

But for right then, he's playing his part helping in the escort. A quiet but stern presence.]

[He takes the time to scan over the procession with him, including the escorts the police had provided. Green eyes linger over them most of all, untrusting of those outside of the flock, but knowing their presence is necessary.

For now. Letting his gaze fall onto Cid, he summoned the man forward with a crook of his hand.] You, you will be with me.

Let us go. [He turns on his heel, sweeping out in front of the group, only led ahead by their escorts to the cars. Something was going to happen, there was no doubt of it. Who's fault it was going to be, however remained to be seen.]
