A Dark December Challenge?

Nov 30, 2011 00:23

Well, it's been rather quiet over here at unlimitedepower and - since the holidays are upon us and so forth - I thought it might be a good time to start thinking about another challenge or even a Palpakin gift exchange of some sort! Is there something you have always wanted our beloved Master and Apprentice to  experience together? One of our other writers could ( Read more... )

I

a) don't have any super-helpful suggestions for how to structure a thing like this

but

b) would be willing to participate in 'most any manifestation thereof

and

c) think this comm could use some love.

So … yeah?

Yay! Whether we pick one theme or swap tales will probably be determined by how many people are interested.

Well, personally, I'd prefer some sort of prompt challenge or something like that. I don't write well enough to do a gift exchange, but I'd love to try my hand at Palpakin. But really, anything that gives us more fics would be amazin.

Most people seem to be thinking about prompts, so that's probably what will happen. :) Yes, we definitely need more fic!

Since I managed to complete exactly zero of the mini NaNo challenges at swficchallenge, and December is a busy month, I'm afraid I can't commit :( but I would absolutely LOVE to read moar Palpakin, of course!

And ohhh I owe you a comment, maybe I'll start it now and continue later...

Eehee - I didn't manage any either. People have been saying it's a busy month, so I was thinking of making the challenge due in January. How does that sound?

I owe you replies! Arg! I'm feeling you on the busy!!

It might be a nice distraction for me in January, which tends to be an emo month for me >.> but I can't make promises for my fickle muse. Lately I feel like my stuff has been subpar, like I'm past my prime or something. Best not to think about it! The interest in reading Palpakin is still there which makes me happy (would hate for that to disappear, may I never see the day!).

No worries, I'm glad to know you saw them!

I'd love to participate but will need to do so, probably, unless it's a group thing, after the New Year. Ugh.

And yes, I'm now a member. Not sure what had happened there, because I am sure I had already joined. All's well that ends well. :)

And hey, speaking of a "shadowy yet festive theme...":

I was joking today (because I went to a holiday party in a flashy sequined red top under a black jacket and with red earrings and black pants and shoes and purse, and Barb opined that I looked like a "Sith Christmas") that the Sith would not celebrate the return of the longer days after winter solstice, but rather winter solstice eve, to celebrate the longest darkest night of the year. And I think it could be a good story idea, maybe. :)

That sound very cool and atmospheric!

December is busy for all of us, so I was thinking of making the challenge due in January - how does that sound?

If it is later in January, the better for me. But wow, that doesn't feel as festive, does it? :(
