Something that has confused me about all of this... You guys volunteer. Why the heck do you have to put in two weeks notice?

Any way... Personally, I would leave. You can still hang out with everyone you like and see the regulars. Nothing precludes you from being their friends. You really don't get paid enough to put up with the petty shit.

What do get out of working there, other than a shitty pay day and having friends?

If I were to leave, I would give a couple of weeks notice so that someone could be trained (or something) in doing what needs to get done.
That and it's the polite thing to do.

the mercury seems to go through phases of massive asshole attraction, and massive "just the regulars" attraction.

Sitting on the door is a totally thankless job, and the first place entitlement happens, in the club. You get the brunt of the bullshit sitting there.

It sounds like you should maybe take a *break* from doing the door for a while. Maybe take the rest of the summer and the fall off from it, just to recharge your (OMG seriously depleted by the rest of your life, let alone this job sucking out your soul in unreasonable ways) batteries.

You don't have to give it up forever. But it really sounds like you want and need a break from it.

*hugs* good to see you posting. I worry when you are quiet for too long, sugar.

I am hoping that we can get my meds straighted out so I can come play some soon. And hey, Spydrman will have actual weekends soon, so we might come out now and then. :D

See, the 'job' itself can be dealt with.
The problem being the Chain of Annoyance:

1. Patron comes in, gets pissed that I made them show show membership even though they've been coming to this place since dirt was planted.
2. Patron pissed because I made them actually walk back to their car/carpet/cock shaped pogo stick to get their wallet because they don't have an ID on them.
3. Patron pissed because the other doorgirl would have let them come in, since they're great friends or some other crap.
4. Patron pissed because I ACTUALLY made them PAY COVER (the nerve of me sometimes).
5. No tip for Dija.

The patron then carries this mood to the bartenders, coatcheck, other patrons, etc. and I end up making LJ posts at 6am.

Meh.

Anyhow, it is good to hear that you're getting your meds situated. I've been concerned about you, and was hoping to maybe see you on the non smoking nights that we've had recently.
Come out, come out wherever you are?

I will come out soon. I am going to be fine. For me the "Druggercoaster" (as a new friend so accurately phrased it) has a few annoying dips in it that I can live without, but they are unlikely to do me any permanent harm.

Speaking of worries...

It has been a great long time since there has been any posting about Dija's brain... how are *you* doing?

But the druggercoaster is the fun part!!!
I remember things like Amytriptaline, Dilantin, Valproic Acid, Lorazepam, Neurontin, etc.

Neuropathy isn't fun. Seizures are less fun.
I haven't had a major episode in a few months, thankfully, as I have no insurance. Dijas' brain is still cranky and twitchy.
Trust me, if anything changes, oh boy will you hear about it.
I'm not shaving my head again, so it'll just have go away on it's own.

jesus christ. everything is going tits up isn't it? i don't know what to say girl. that's a long laundry list of bs to deal with right there. i guess the question is do you think it's going to get any better anytime soon?

It's not so much anyone at the place that we 'work' with. The new manager person has made some changes that actually make sense. I don't want you for a second to think that it's anything that he has said or done. It'll get better soon, but it's a big shift of control, power, and blow jobs that we're going through there. I understand the people that don't like and/or fear change, but in addition to dealing with their irrational behavior, drinking, temper tantrums, sense of entitlement, and weather induced insanity.

It'll get better soon.
As soon as it stops feeling like cannibalism on all fronts. I told myself that I would give it until the end of July before actually walking away. I have 11 days for it to get worse, or get a little better and become slightly less than mediocre.

Me and Ilsa think you are spectacular. It sounds like most of these issues are fuck-nuts with entitlement issues. It shouldn't be your problem, but you're at the door. The other ones look like maybe someone having a bad night and looking for a scape-goat.

Remember this "Thank you for you input. Please rest assured that this issue will be taken up with the appropriate people!".

What-ever your decision, I look forward to seeing you, on one side of the counter or another.

Thanks for saying so. I think you guys are pretty awesome too, which is why I came to you that night when we didn't have someone at the door. You two are on the very short list of people in that place that I trust and value, so you saying that you think I'm doing alright means quite a bit.

So, thank you for your input. I will share this interaction with the people that give me shit about being evil.

;)

I think you're doing a fine job. Exactly what you're supposed to be doing: protecting the establishment. Protecting the patrons.

If someone complains because they're not getting "extra-speshul" treatment or they don't want to cooperate with basic rules, fuck them. *They're* the problem.

This is what I figured.
I thought that if I made sure that there weren't a bunch of thugs and sorostitutes coming in to spectate, people would appreceate it. I thought that the patrons would be happy knowing that everyone in the building was an of age member (less concern about taking home a 16y/o). I thought that people would be ok with being told that they were fucking up or doing something wrong WHEN they were fucking up, not six months later after people stopped coming out for some *mysterious* reason (Hell, I had to find out that I pissed someone off at the saturday night event by my manager on thursday night and he only knew because it was a thread on LJ).

Maybe people are annoyed because I adhere to the rules to closely.
Or maybe people are still pissed that I'm still not Tara.
