CHAPTER ONE

Yamada Ryosuke sighed as he sat on the dark corner of their garden, letting his eyes roam around the flowers that were lightened with the moon shining on the night sky. He had a miserable life. And he didn’t think he can ever overcome that for he himself doesn’t want to.

He was still hurting. Takaki left a big scar on his heart. Still, he must be a fool enough that he was waiting for the guy to come back and ignoring other people that had been trying to replace him. He knew they weren’t in love with him. They were in love with his money. For he is Yamada Ryosuke after all. The only son of one of the biggest business tycoons of the country.

Now, he was on that garden again. The garden that was once the witness of how he and Takaki had their vow of love. The place where he knew he fell for the guy. The place where the guy confessed and the place where he said ‘Yes’.

Before he knew it, his tears had started falling again. There was no way of holding them in now. His silent cries had gone to sobs while he stayed there, sitting on the hammock. Looking longingly on the wooden table and chairs that were on the middle of the garden. Will Takaki come back soon? He knew there must be a reason to it.

Light footsteps coming to him jolted him back to reality. Breaking of the twigs was heard along with the sounds of the falling dry leaves. He looked around and failed to see who was coming. In such a dark place, who would be there other than him?

“Who’s there?” He asked, his voice was still broken and was barely audible. He then wiped his tears, not wanting to let the person see that he was crying again.

There wasn’t an answer but he noticed the person must have stopped for the footsteps were now near him. With the help of the moonlight, he can see his body structure. He was a tall and a thin guy, those was all he can see. “I asked you who you are. And why are you here in my garden? How did the security guard let you in?” He asked again, with his voice a bit high.

“You’re here, in the dark corner of your garden, crying again.” The stranger said. He noticed his voice was soothing, but he ignored it. “You’re really having a hard time on how selfish you are, Ryosuke.” The guy continued.

Hearing what the stranger had said, he clinched his fist and stood up. He was hurting so much and what was the right of that stranger to say that to him? He didn’t know anything! He doesn’t know a thing how much he and Takaki had loved each other. “How dare you accuse me of being a selfish! You don’t have the right!” He exclaimed as he walked near to the guy but failed to see his face.

His tears started falling again, with his mixed emotions of being hurt from Takaki and being hurt of what the guy said. “You don’t know a thing…”

The guy snorted, he must have even be smirking as of now if only he can see his face. “You are the one that didn’t know a thing, Ryosuke.” The guy said, accusing once again. “You didn’t know a thing about Takaki. You didn’t know a thing about him but because you were selfish, you decided to marry him!”

Before he knew it, his hand flew to the stranger’s cheek, hitting it hard. His hand had gone numb so he knew the guy’s cheek must be stinging with pain. But he didn’t regret a thing about what he did. For being a stranger, this guy stooped on the borderline.

“Does it really hurt you so much to be slapped with the truth on your face?” The guy said again. “That was why I feel bad for you. You’re nothing but a spoiled brat, selfish guy that only cared for his self.”

That wasn’t true. He was never selfish. He cared for others. He cared for Takaki. He then covered his face with both his hands as he sobbed. “Why are you doing this to me…”

He knew Takaki Yuya for months, 3 months to be exact. The guy had always been patiently waiting every day on the outside of their huge gate, with bouquet of flower on his hands and a very sweet smile that was only meant for him.

With those sweet gestures, he went to the guy that was smiling at him, handling the flowers. “I noticed that you’re here for almost every day.” He said as he smiled. “May I help you?” He asked politely.

The brunette guy smiled sheepishly and started playing with the flowers on his hand. “You would be helping me so much of you would accept this flowers that I brought for you.”

He chuckled as he looked at the flowers and into the guy again. “And you should give me a reason why I should accept those.” He said as he pointed the flowers.

“Hmm… because I’m cool?” The guy said as he grinned and winked.

That made him laugh and without bothering, he snatched the bouquet away from the guy. “Thank you.” He said as he smiled, then opened the gate for them. “Mind to come inside?” He asked.

The guy just shrugged and followed him as they made their way to his house. “What’s your name by the way?” He asked as he started smelling each of the flowers and smiled at the scent that it brought to him.

“Takaki Yuya.” The guy said as he looked at him, smiling at what he was doing. “I’m glad I picked the right flowers.” He said as his eyes twinkled with amusement.

He blushed slightly and put the flowers down. He guided the guest to their garden and sat on the wooden table that was on the center, making it looked like it was a paradise.

“You like romantic places,” Takaki commented as he looked around. “And flowers…” he continued.

He smiled widely. “Yeah, I got that from Mom. She liked flowers so much.”

“Liked?” Takaki asked as he sat down opposite to his seat.

His eyes were then clouded with sadness. “I lost my Mom back when I was fourteen.” He said as he tried to smile.

Takaki’s face softened and looked at him with such loving eyes. “I’m sorry to hear that.”

“It’s fine,” He assured as he smiled. “Every time I’m here in this garden, I feel like I am with Mom. When I am sad, I just go here. Whenever I’m happy, I celebrate it here.” He said as he looked around. He noticed Takaki stayed looking at him. “Oh, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be telling you such boring stories.” He said as he laughed slightly.

The guy laughed. “Nah, it’s so good to see you smiling while talking about this place and talking about your Mom. I bet she loved you so much.” He said.

“Yeah.” He agreed as he smiled even more widely.

That was the first day they met. That one fateful day he wouldn’t forget. The day that he knew he fell in love with that guy who was once a stranger.

The day that he didn’t know would bring changes to his life. If he knew… he shouldn’t have said ‘No’. No. He would still risk in marrying Takaki. That was how much he loved the other guy. And he knew Takaki would protect him from anything because they loved each other more than they could put it on words.

His tears had run endlessly on his pale cheeks that were shimmering under the moonlight. The stranger kept looking at him then walked away.

“Let’s meet again, someday, Ryosuke.” The guy said. “Hopefully, in a better way.”

No, as he looked at the shadow that was drifting away from him, he was hoping they would not meet anymore.

That would make his peaceful life stay as it is.
