CHAPTER TWELVE

Yamada stayed standing as he looked at the two faces of the man he loved. Yuto with rage on his eyes; Takaki with longingness from his face. It was as though his world had come to an end. And he knew it was the end he couldn’t try to ignore anymore,he had nowhere to go.

He tried opening his mouth, turning to Yuto to ask why they were fighting. Although it was useless anymore for he knew it might be because of Chinen once again. He needed a break from that fact. But before he could speak a word, Takaki came to him swiftly and hugged him tightly.

“I’m so glad that you’re safe, Yama-chan.” Takaki said as he hugged Yamada tightly more than ever. He blinked the tears in his eyes as he let his face soften with the sight of the guy in front of him. “I missed you so much.”

Losing the words he wanted to say, Yamada gazed up at Takaki with his eyes wondering. He left me. You left me Takaki, during our important day. Now you’re telling me these things? He wanted to scream those words so bad but he couldn’t. Something was holding him in. He swallowed the lump in his throat and let Takaki’s hands away from him. “W-why did you come back…” He asked in a weak voice, although he knew he wasn’t asking.

Takaki’s eyes soften as his face did too and he smiled bitterly. “You must have hated me so much, for what I have done, Yama-chan. I am deeply sorry. I had to leave.” He said as he touched Yamada’s face lovingly. “I am back now… to save you from hell.” He continued as he turned around and looked at Yuto with gritted teeth.

Yuto just smirked by seeing them and wiped his bleeding lip. “Are you both done with your drama? I should award you both as Best Actors.” He mocked as he looked at Yamada now.

Yamada didn’t know what to feel. He was happy seeing Takaki but he wasn’t that happy anymore. He was hurting seeing Yuto, he wanted to run to his side and ask him if he was okay. To hug him and ask for forgiveness for the sin he didn’t know he committed. He wanted to say he would choose him… instead of Takaki.

But he couldn’t. Somehow, his heart shut down and was slowly hating the other guy. He forced his self to do so. And he knew he had done the right thing. “Let me hear the truth. Just pure truth, please.” He begged as he closed his eyes. He then felt Takaki’s warm hand holding his tightly. It was as if Takaki wouldn’t let him go
anymore.

“What I said was pure truth, Ryosuke. You just refused to believe them all.” Yuto said as he once again heard mocking from his voice. “I tell no lies. Unlike that guy.” He continued as he smirked and looked at Takaki. “Why don’t you tell him the whole story, Yuya?”

Instantly looking at the guy on his side, Yamada gave a look to Takaki, insisting him to talk. Takaki slowly nodded and held his hand tightly. “I ran away because we were both in danger during that time, Yama-chan.” He said as his eyes went emotional.

“What? Why were we in danger in the first place?” He asked in disbelief.

He saw Yuto smirking not too far away from them, with the thing on his hand that made him shiver. His throat ran dry looking at the lanky guy with his sheepish smile. “You were both in danger, Ryosuke. Just like now.” He exclaimed as he raised his hand and walked nearer to them.

Takaki’s grip on him tightened as they both stiffened. Yuto was now holding a gun, it must have just lied on the floor a while ago and they both have forgotten it.

“I tell no lies.” Yuto said once again. “You should believe everything that I say, Ryosuke. Takaki was lying just now.” He said as a playful grin covered his lips. It was as though he was possessed by a demon. Surely looks can be deceiving.

“I will never believe you!” He shouted as he shivered with fear. Takaki then pulled him closer, their shared heat making him better. “I… I believe Takaki.” He said in a very weak voice, almost sounding like a whisper. Though he wondered if he was telling the truth just now…

“I may have hated you for what you have done, Ryosuke… but I can assure you that you are safer with me than with Takaki.” Yuto said once again, raising the gun to Takaki.

No! Don’t ever believe him, Ryosuke. His mind shouted. And he knew it was the best. “Tell me Takaki… why were we in danger during our wedding day.” He said with a little firmness in his voice. He needed to hear it now although he wasn’t prepared enough.

He felt Takaki stiffened. “Yuto tried to kill us both.”

It was as though that sentence rang endlessly on Yamada’s mind. It echoed to no end. And he was too stunned to move a bit. Before he could do anything, with a swift, Takaki let him go and threw a kick to Yuto that made the latter guy fall off to the floor, as the gun fell too.

“Faster, Yama-chan! We need to get out of here!” Takaki said in a panic as he held his hand again and pulled him as they started running away.

Before he did, he stayed standing and watched Yuto that was groaning in pain. “I hate you.” He said in a firm voice and gritted teeth, with tears forming in his eyes. He knew he lied just now but half of it was true… Yuto was despicable. He was a demon.

Picking up the gun, Yuto pulled the trigger and he let his self being pulled by Takaki and they started running now. With the thin air between them grew thicker, he didn’t fail to see the sad emotion that covered Yuto’s face…

It was sadness. A pure one.
